“Limited Edition” Christmas Tree Stand Released by John Wright Company

Heirloom-quality cast-iron stand features unique, fully-integrated tapered spike for unmatched stability

Wrightsville, PA (May 24, 2016)John Wright Company, Inc., a premier designer of heirloom-quality hardware and home accents released a limited-edition, solid cast-iron Christmas tree stand that features a unique fully-integrated tapered tree spike providing unmatched stability and durability.

The 2016 Heirloom Christmas Tree Stand is the only cast-iron stand on the market to feature a tree spike that is fully integrated into the design. Because the stand is cast, not fabricated, there are no seams or soldering that can cause weakness in the design or material.

The 3¾” spike is tapered to ensure a snug fit for live trees with up to 5” trunk diameters and 8’ heights, improving safety and ease of use. The integration of the spike into the design also prevents the common problems seen in stands made of other materials like plastic, such as cracks in the reservoir and water damage to floors and carpets

In addition to its structural benefits, this piece also features a crisp and clear design that is unmatched by contemporary fabrication methods. The pattern design was handmade by artists using traditional methods such as ball-type milling and hammering, providing a level of detail and range of shapes that can only be achieved using casting.

“The Heirloom Tree Stand is one of our most well-known holiday pieces, and the new support pin only improves upon its time-proven design,” said Brant Hershey, Engineering Manager at John Wright. “It’s [the pin’s] full integration into the design that keeps Christmas trees standing straight and looking incredible, not only for the season, but for countless seasons to come.”

John Wright Co. Releases Line of Cast-Iron, Porcelain-Coated Trivets

Porcelain seal provides greater resistance to water, rust, and heat than traditional powder-coated cast-iron products

Wrightsville, PA (July 2016) – John Wright Company, Inc., one of America’s oldest continuously-operating designers and manufacturers of cast-iron hardware and home accents has launched a line of classic cast-iron, porcelain-coated trivets. Resistant to rusting, chipping, and temperature damage, the Lattice Trivet is a durable and long-lasting home accent, perfect for holding hot kettles or as a decorative dining table centerpiece.

The Lattice Trivet is designed to reflect the original cast-iron trivets produced by American foundries in the 1850s but with the added benefits of porcelain coating. This improves upon the innate durability and strength of cast-iron by providing a water-resistant seal to prevent rust, damage, or breakage.

“The Lattice Trivet’s porcelain coat not only provides a water-resistant seal to prevent rust, but it can also withstand much higher temperatures than other powder coatings or paints,” says Brant Hershey, Engineering Manager at John Wright. “It’s a piece that’s as artistic as it is useful.”

These trivets feature a classic lattice pattern and can be specified in a variety of colors (Forest Green, Colonial Blue, Green Majolica, Apple Red, Almond Cream, Jet Black and Matte Black). Because of the porcelain coating, their color will not fade over time.

The Lattice Steamer measures 10 ¼” wide with a 7 ½” diameter and weighs 3.0 lbs. Prices for this piece vary by color, ranging from $19.90 – $32.60.

Catenary Arch Shelf Bracket Released by John Wright Company

Historic bridge design inspires elegant arch pattern, reflecting Pennsylvania and American heritage

Wrightsville, PA (May 2016)John Wright Company, Inc., a premier designer of heirloom-quality hardware and home accents, released a US-made, cast-aluminum shelf bracket with a unique catenary arch design inspired by central Pennsylvania’s landmark Columbia-Wrightsville Bridge.

John Wright’s Bridge Bracket features a classic Art Nouveau design modeled after the ornate catenary arches of the historic Columbia-Wrightsville Bridge. The bridge, which was completed in 1930, spans the Susquehanna River between Columbia and Wrightsville and is known as one of the longest concrete arch highway bridges in the world. It is a treasured piece of early 20th Century American architecture and is listed on the United States National Register of Historic Places.

John Wright’s center of operations sits along the shore of the Susquehanna River overlooking the bridge, which is in large part why this design was chosen. The catenary arches not only provide sound structural support for the shelf bracket, but they reflect Wrightsville’s rich heritage, pride, and beauty.

“The historically-inspired design of this piece is something in which John Wright truly takes pride,” says Brant Hershey, Engineering Manager at John Wright. “This arched form was popular in the US during the early 20th Century for its structural and aesthetic advantages, which is what we strived to capture in the arch bracket’s pattern.”

Each piece also comes standard with baked-on, UV-stable urethane paints for a decorative and weather-resistant surface, which enables both indoor and outdoor use. For a classic, early-American look, the arch bracket is available in black, but alternate colors can be specified. John Wright also offers this piece in a natural aluminum for a very sleek and industrial modern look, perfect for more contemporary homes and gardens.

John Wright Co. Launches Weather-Resistant, Coastal Shutter Hardware

Weather-resistant finish, cast-iron, alligator pattern for a durable and original addition to home exteriors

Wrightsville, PA (May, 25 2016)John Wright Company, Inc., one of America’s oldest continuously-operating designers and manufacturers of cast-iron hardware and home accents, has launched an exclusive weather-resistant, cast-iron shutter dog in an alligator pattern. This original piece is ideal for homeowners, designers, or custom builders who are looking to put the final touch on the exterior of a coastal, seaside, or southern home or pool house.

Unlike many fabricated or stamped metal shutter dogs, John Wright’s Alligator Shutter Dog features a solid cast-iron construction, designed specifically for strength and long-term outdoor use. Each piece is coated with John Wright’s signature WeatherWright finishing system to prevent rust, wear, and corrosion from weather and sea spray.

The design for the Alligator Shutter Dog originated from a hand drawn sketch that was printed into plastic three-dimensional model. John Wright’s in-house artists sculpted additional details by hand into this plastic model. The finished piece was then iron-cast from the plastic rendering, resulting in this fresh and unique take on a classic type of exterior shutter hardware.

“The Alligator Shutter Dog combines the signature strength, stability, and functionality of John Wright shutter hardware with an original style that really stands out,” says Brant Hershey, Engineering Manager at John Wright. “Whether they’re used as holdbacks on working shutters or purely as decorations on fixed shutters, our Alligators are truly unique and creative home accents.”

The Alligator Shutter Dog measures 7” in length and weighs 1.25 lbs. with plated steel lag bolts and DIY installation guide. Alligator Shutter Dogs are sold in pairs for the retail price of $23.50.
