Description
This shim kit is used with John Wright’s offset strap hinges and New York style hinges (#88-625, -626, -627, -628, -510, -511, -512, -513, -514, and -517). The shims are mounted behind the hinge pintle plate and increase its offset. You can use either one, two, or all three shims. The total throw of the hinge-pintle combination is also increased. This can expand your mounting options and provide more clearance for trim, storm windows, or other obstructions. Screws included.

This shim works perfectly if you need a little deeper throw for your shutters to be able to close and you don’t want to have to buy pintles with a deeper throw (which might be deeper than you need or want.) The shim is 1/4″ deep and you are able to add up to three shims.
The 1/4″ shim looks great and just makes the back on the pintle appear to be a little heavier. However, when you add two or three, although it works, I would suggest ordering the deeper pintle instead because the three shims, in my opinion, is not aesthetically appealing.
